Burning the Midnight Oil - An Apology |

Firelight burning, steady bright, Little dragon working deep into night, Writing, dreaming, thinking, striving To welcome those new poets arriving. Time and again, to write he woke Even after his ballpoint broke, Greeting those poets at the door-- They seemed to be coming, more and more! Slowly, midnight oil is burning And this little dragon is yearning To keep on writing, still abiding To laws of stress that he was fighting... Finally he's forced to accept His failiure...that is why he wept And to the Corner Pub he retreated Where load was lighter as new poets were greeted. So that's why I haven't been welcoming here, The Opens are just too much, I fear... I'm really sorry I couldn't do What I had orignally set out to. Little Spyro T. Dragon P.S. But if you go to the Corner Pub I'll do my best! [This message has been edited by Little_Spyro (edited 03-04-2000).] |

Great poem Sam, but there's no way you should feel guilty ! Gee, I can hardly believe all the welcome poems you write. The Pub is so crowded these day, I can hardly keep up reading and replying. No Sam, little Dragon with the heart of gold, time to rest. You've done more than could be expected from anyone. |

Apologies are not necessary at all, Sam. I am amazed at the amount you are able to do. I always look forward to a post by you, a welcoming one or otherwise. So just relax and have fun with your writing! Denise |

Never apologize!!! Do what you can with the time you have. That's all any of us can do. It's hard enough just to read and reply to the new poets without trying to think up a rhyme for each one! You do a tremendous job in the Pub...and I for one am grateful! |

Thanks, everyone...but this little dragon isn't going to rest, at least not in the Corner Pub! I'm...well, I'm using an ancient cliché when I say this, but--I'm just doing my job! Hope you all visit the Pub for a round or two sometime, minors included! Little Spyro T. Dragon |

Spyro, I am the one who should apologize for not keeping up, although I do the best I can. And I have posted in the Pub but don't get to respond to everyone's poems. I can't seem to type fast enough and I read but often don't respond for lack of time. So you see, we're all in the same boat, and to answer your question, No, I don't squash little dragons with my shoe. Liz |
