Ms Spring threw a party On the first day of March Mother Nature spead the table With a magnificent cloth of green Ms Spring called on Mr. Sunshine To announce the invitation To all creatures everywhere To come join The celebration The birds reponded to their invitation Quickly flying in one by one Perching in pink and white blossomed trees They hung like sparling ornaments On chandeliers The entertainment was provided By their generosity For they always sang for free Whatever the occasion might be Mr. Woodpecker was skilled with the drum So he set the pace As the Sparrows, the Robins and the Cardinals Sang sweet refrains Butterflies danced and honeybees romanced Each wonderful moment quickly passed Then while the evening was still young The Crickets joined in their festivities As they got extremly happy, and began to play On their violins While the Millers danced in the twilight The party was so well attended The chit chat was, Oh so polite Except for a little disagreement Between a Blue Jay and and his sweetheart When they had a slight misunderstanding Over something Mr. Mockingbird had said Soon all was forgiven, About the time it was time for all birds To go home to their nest That was when I looked across the meadow And spied two young spotted white tailed deers At play Frolicking among a green field of hay As the sun shone pink and yellow And the trees stood like shadows dark and thin In my heart I knew this party had only just began. What a lovely party you have written, and even though I wasn't invited, I feel like I was there...thank you. |

Oh my, SeptSong~ This is just the 'touch of Spring' we all need. You've chosen the most beautiful creatures to adorn the page. Wonderful. I'm just ecstatic over this. I feel spring ! ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |
