The sun sets and the sky falls black. And the trees whisper as I turn my back, On all the memories I knew Of how and when and why I loved you. I look to the sky and all I see Are stars that are reminders of you and me. They twinkle their brightness for a time But slowly, yet surely, they lose their shine. Dark shadows play stages for these memories As I look into them and you I see. Darkness's arms engulf me to bring my the ghosts of a love I knew. I reach out to embrace them and fall right through Transparent bodies that carry my pain from long ago. And I begin to wonder if I will ever know, How to intwine my heart and love together And bring me a happiness that may last forever. |

Danella, This is a beautiful poem. It's hard to "learn how to love". We take a lot of lumps on the way, too. I know your pain all too well. I have felt the engulfing Darkness you speak of - I have seen stars lose their luster as well. Never give up - Love is out their waiting, it has to be. Michael |
