Okay, I know this one is a little long (and a little corny), but I thought I'd post it to get some opinions....(I wrote it when I was 16, so please be gentle! LOL j/k!) The Legend big blue eyes gazed into my soul my heart she had grasped in a captivating hold why must I leave my princess? I myself knew not the answer one look into her brimming eyes told me I had enchanted her her heart, it was breaking as mine was torn in two and I whispered these words into her ear "My dear, I love you." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ warm brown eyes gazed into my soul my heart he had grasped in a rapturous hold why, oh why, must my young prince leave me? I myself knew not the answer one tearful glance into his eyes revealed my feelings of forever I saw his heart was breaking as my tears fell like dew and he whipsered these words into my ear "My dear, I love you." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ my princess was of beauty a lovely sight to see heaven shone from her very soul and placed a smile on me glorious red hair, delicate porcelain face struck awe in the hearts of men the king objected, for in his eyes beauty was a sin "Radiance leads to foolishness," he raged throughout the kingdom "I'll have no nonsense in my palace!" with that, his will was done ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ my prince was of splendor a handsome sight to behold eyes which melted my beating heart his smile shone like gold golden blonde hair spun like straw caused jealousy in the young girls' eyes my father objected, for he said, "Too much beauty will lead to lies." my happiness did not last alas, not for long my father's anger was clear, and he cried that what we wanted was wrong ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ he banished me from his kingdom before the sun was set I told my princess this awful word she cried, "Do not leave--not yet!" she kissed my hands, she kissed my brow as the sun danced on her hair "I'll miss you, my prince," she whispered to me this pain I could not bear an idea occurred to me then I told my princess what to do "Wrap this cloak 'round your shoulders and no one will discover you." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ my prince told to leave the land so under a tree we met I was losing my one true love I tried, to no avail, not to fret I gave him a kiss upon his brow his hands, so light and fair "I'll miss you, my prince," I whispered to him how would he know I care? a precarious plan crept upon my prince he told me what to do "Wrap this cloak 'round your shoulders and no one will discover you." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ she drew the cloak over her body I knew then it was truly her I need my heart skipped a beat with my love for her we were meant to be together indeed she carried a tear in her eye as she looked back at the land I thought of all she was leaving behind as I took her trembling hand big blue eyes gazed into mine I listened to the palace noise she smiled at me and I admired her for all her strength and poise ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I drew the cloak over my body then joined him on his steed with one last glance at my father's kingdom I knew his will I could never heed a lone tear rose to my eye I brushed it with my hand one lesson I had learned from the king: only the love of my prince is grand warm brown eyes gazed into mine my heart danced at his voice I turned to my prince and smiled at him knowing I had made the right choice. |
