He Used To Sing Hank Williams |

He used to sing “Hank Williams” When he was on the booze- He’d weep and sing “Your Cheatin’ Heart” And “Long Gone, Lonesome Blues”. He didn’t care for “Blue Suede Shoes” Nor other up-beat songs- But he used to sing “Hank Williams”- He’d sing him all night long. He sang about the “Lovesick Blues” You felt that you were there- Right at “Luke, the Drifter’s” side As he climbed those “Golden Stairs”. He sang about the whipoorwill- The train a windin’ low- I don’t believe Hank had a song... That Elsner didn’t know. He’d play that Martin guitar- At a lot of one night stands... He’d sing the lead at lots of gigs With little country bands. They found him dead one morning- But somehow that seems wrong, Sometimes I hear him in the night Still singin’ old Hank’s songs. Nice poem, I like Old Hank too, you could almost make this into a country song. |

Gunslinger this is a nice poem. And I love that Hank Williams song "Your Cheatin Heart. A poem and a song. I am trying to write a Hawaiian love song. I have never written a song before but I have a friend that knows a lot about music and also one of my sons. I hope I can put it together. James |

Slinger- Now you've got me singing Ole Hank. Great rendering here, my friend. I belt out a mean, 'Cheating Heart'. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

awwwww beautiful G.S Did Jesus laugh? I think He did, 'cause He was once a little kid; and all of us were made with joy both sugar-spice girl and snake-snail boy! |
