Our youngest daughter sucked her thumb,
...when she slept at night,
The dentist said that she must stop,
...or suffer overbite.
You need to get some alcohol,
...the rubbing kind he said,
Put some on her thumb tonight,
...before she goes to bed,
So we did as dentist said,
...and bought the alcohol,
Told our daughter what we'd do,
...and howdy, did she bawl,
She went into hysterics,
...a screaming and a crying,
I'm sure that all the neighbors thought,
...that someone was a dying,
I held her close, and asked what's wrong,
...your mom and I are here,
We couldn't for the life of us,
...figure out her fear,
She looked at us with reddened eyes,
...at six looked so angelic,
Don't make me taste that awful stuff,
...and become an alcoholic.

We nixed the rubbing alcohol idea... which is probably why I paid for braces...

Got a great chuckle out of this one, Mike!

And I've got the perfect bite to prove it, too!  See?

Tim, this is adorable!!

My son he liked his bottle
it was sort of like a thumb
something to hold and think with
when he was feeling glum.

The doctor said that juice and milk
would rot his teeth for sure
so I substituted water
and that seemed to be the cure.

Then one day a dentist, mind you
extracting a tooth gone bad
filled his bottle with red stuff
the stuff he shouldn't have.

My dear son with toothless grin
looked at the doc and said
please can I have water
this will rot my teeth real bad.

Well, sheeesh..... sorry, you inspired me,
can't rhyme like you
but the stories true.

Out of the mouths of babes and into the parents poems.  Enjoyed both of them.
