The Rose from the Hearth
for Patricia Taylor on her birthday

A breeze of light comes through
where windows haven't been
nor walls to dampen springtime's view
nor doors to let it in
to where horizons call anew
a breeze of light comes through

A warmth has filled the air
while summer was ablaze
with seas to sail and beaches where
the waves would touch the rays
and while the sun had done its share
a warmth has filled the air

A fog has gone away
from roads of clear foresight
where autumn stars would shine till day
and vision seemed so right
but natures colors were just gray
a fog has gone away

A flame now warms the room
a hearth has come alive
as winter's furnaces resume
and holidays arrive
from stones a rose has come to bloom
a flame now warms the room

Rus -
What a powerful entrance you made to
the Passions Forum.
Welcome .....
This is beautiful.  I really like
the uniqueness of the verses.
Hope to read more.
I would suggest that Patricia Taylor
is a lucky gal to receive this for her
birthday.

Hi Nate Dog:  Thank you very much for your comment and welcoming me.

Hi Anne:  Funny you should say "lovely", that is a favorite expression of Pat's  Thank you.

Hi Pooh-Butt:  Thank you.  This will be displayed in the Deerfield Inn by a hearth with a pot of flowers instead of fire, something Pat and I saw two days after its writing.

Hi Poet-deVine:  Thanks for reading and the compliment.  I feel very welcome.  Such a wonderful group.

Hi Grandma Jo:  Thanks for reading this with such intent.  Very appreciated.

Quite a striking entrance you have made for yourself, with this.  I echo the welcome extended by my colleagues, and for perfectly selfish reasons, I hope you post more soon ...

Hi Kess:  Thank you for your welcome.  After reading your poetry, I should stay for selfish reasons too!

Hi Eloise:  Oh yes, Pat is a wonderful inspiration and so good for and to me.  Thank you for your read.

Hi Claire:  I went "shopping" for a form to use to write this poem and found Alexander Scott's A Rondel of Love and tried to do the form justice.  Thank you for your critical read.

Hi Martie:  Ah, the word "lovely" again.  This is a word of Pat's.  To say this about this verse is very confirming.  Thank you.

Hi Corinne:  Oh so glad you like it.  Such a wonderful reply.  You are fantastic.  Thank you.

hi devina:  thank you for your great welcome and pat is very special. wow...  pressure's on for next year.

Hi Liz:  Thank you for your wonderful compliment.  I have read your work and it a pleasure indeed.  Well, one's head can get big in this forum!  Thanks.

Hi Roger:  Thanks for your welcome and nod on this verse.  And there's the magic word "lovely" again.  Appreciated.

hi whiskey:  thank you for reading and your wonderful welcome and compliment.

Hi Seymour:  So glad you enjoyed and thanks for reading.  Such a great welcome here!

hi suthern:  The magic word again!  pat will read these replies too.  wow!  thanks for the welcome.

Hi LngJhnAg:  Thanks for reading.  Such a great reply.  If I'm a matey, I must be aboard.  Is 8 or 10 stanzas like swabbing the deck??

I am overwhelmed.   Thank you all so much.

This is equal to the old masters' work.  What a love poem!  You should publish this poem, truly. If I could ever do as well!  What exquisite rhyme and scheme and flow, it runs like a river, delighting the reader immensely!

Equal? Wow!  I'm off to bed and will need a bigger pillow now.

As to publishing, I probably will submit, but no hurry.  Need to consider the right publication.  Thank you for this suggestion and also for noticing the rhyme work this took.  Thanks Again.
