So you think I sleep...(ha, ha), how wrongly mistaken you are. I could trick you if I wanted- I could close my eyes and breath heavily, and you'd be none the wiser. But, please...explain to me the reason for my insomniac tendencies. Look into my lusterless, squinted eyes and tell me what secrets you see buried in the pained pupils. I need to know. When others are snoring and exploring the twisted corridors of their subconscious, I lie in a dazed, horizontal position, trying to lure my hyper cerebrum into oblivion. But, no, I am forced to review my life in such detail that the happy moments become tedious monotonous periods which I suddenly loathe and blame for my restless, writhing state of mind. Condemned as I am, a small flint of desperate hope eternally thrives for the day when forever more I can close my lids to find darkness. ~*~ ^i^ ~*~ Love is such a lonely art, and death is but a taste. Minds are merely instruments that often go to waste! ~*~ ^i^ ~*~ |

Very powerful poem Mel, you've really made me think. I think maybe you should try clearing your head of all these thoughts, and just trying to find some *peace* when your head hits the pillow. I know if I lay there and ponder everything in my life, it really takes away from my peace....I lay there and toss and turn. It's only when I clear my head, that I can finally doze off. I know you may not have written this literally, or maybe you did. Just try to think clearly and positively my dear... ** I'm reaching for the brightest star I've ever seen - knock my ladder out from under me, and you'll wish you hadn't !! -pFF ** Here's to 2000! |

Well, considering I have slept a total of 7 hrs and 13 minutes in the last 3 or 4 weeks (accept for the coma) I think that it was written literally. =) I do try to clear my mind but it doesn't work, and the times I do sleep, I have nightmares that wake me up no more than an hour or two into the sleep and I cant sleep anymore. But hey, life sucks, oh well, the no sleep hasnt bothered me too much I guess, I think I can survive with no sleep. ~*~ ^i^ ~*~ Love is such a lonely art, and death is but a taste. This is a powerful and angry poem Echo. And it's also complex too. Nathan |

Melanie, such a painful poem and I'm so sorry that this is your reality right now. If you haven't already perhaps you should speak with your doctor for some help, suggestions...there must be something that can be done for a sleep disorder that is this severe. 'Cause it certainly can't be helping your outlook on things. You'll remain in my prayers and email me if you want to talk. Nate...Thank you Denise...I have spoken to many doctors, and have tried just about everything and nothing has worked. But like I said, the no sleep thing hasnt effected me too much, so I guess I can live with it. There are way more other things that I am more concerned with than not sleeping. ~*~ ^i^ ~*~ Love is such a lonely art, and death is but a taste. Sorry sweetie, I did reply but I guess it didn't take! I know that you're getting no sleep, and I don't know what to say! I will keep praying for you, and I wish when you lay down that you would do the same. Though I know how you feel about that too right now! We are answered according to how we believe!? So believe that he can help you Melanie! Ask Him to let your mind rest, and to protect your dreams, for i will keep asking but you need to believe that He's already answered your prayer....I'm here and you know it! <*\\\>< Where there is faith, there is love. Where there is love, there is peace. Where there is peace, there is GOD. Where there is GOD, there is no need. Hallmark |

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble sleeping. I, myself, have had many sleepless nights due to stress and depression. My best advice is a hot bubble bath by candlelight and a cup of chamomile tea. I've always found this to be the best way for me to relax and quiet my mind. My prayers are with you. |

I have to admit to you, that I thought this was going to be another scary ghost poem like Micheal's(stop laughing Mel!) but this insomnia you speak of is very common, I know I have a hard time sleeping because I sit and review every little detail of every little thing in my life. My advice would be to get a good book and read until you pass out!!! Might sound boring but relaxes and clears the mind hun!!! Open arms can be the most fragile in the world... |

Hi Echo, Oh such a restless poem that ends in its own darkness. Love the eyes in this. of their subconscious, I lie in a dazed, horizontal position, trying to lure my hyper cerebrum into oblivion. Rus |

The older I get, the more I find sleep evading me. Especially under times of stress. But, an insomniac, no. I have a friend who is one, has been one since childhood, when he used to ride his bike around the driveway at 2 a.m. Now, he writes and walks the strees, the local cops nod and wave, a familiar sight. You captured this netherworld very well, Echo, and gave a brief glimpse into that dimension! Corinne |

Hi Echo, Listening to music always relaxes my mind and releases stress. I have a real long set of headphones with a volume control right next to the headphone. So I lay on the sofa or the bed and I have a 5 cd player and I put on whatever my mood, dance music really helps if I'm troubled and sometimes romantic is nice and I blast it and soon enough I'm sleepin. If that doesn't work I start reading and right now I'm reading three different books, Stendahl, Memoirs of a Geisha, and The Mystery of Marriage. So I pick the one I'm in the mood for and it relaxes me and sometimes I slip into their world. A long time ago when my wife left me and I was totally devistated I would watch TBN..trinity broadcasting network..thats a christian network and sometimes a show would come on that would really talk to me. Finally I would go to sleep. So if anything is bothering you talk to people about it..but find someone that cares. James |

I sure hope you finally find peace soon!! This was an intense poem Melanie!! Very well written!! Take Care Bridgette P.S. Hope you get some sleep!!! Creation of woman from the rib of Man: She was not made from his head to top him; nor out of his feet to be trampled upon by him; but out of his side to be equal with him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be loved." |
