For Those I Love...
For Those Who Love Me...

When I am gone, release me, let me go,
I have so many things to see and do.
You must not tie yourself to me with tears,
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you have each shown,
But now, it is time I travel alone!

So grieve awhile for me, if grieve you must,
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It is only for awhile that we must part,
So bless the memoires that lie within your heart.

I won't be far away, for life goes on,
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near,
And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear
All my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you must come this way alone
I'll greet you with a smile and say
"Welcome home".

This poem was said at my best friend's funeral.  I don't know if this was written by him (though it was said he did write this), or if this is always said at funerals.  All I know that this poem touched me in a place that only Aaron could touch.  Please be aware of you close friends around you, for one day they might not be there.

I have heard either that one, or one very similiar at other funerals.  I'm not sure if its original or not.  In any case though, very touching and a great reminder!
