Souls Like Crystal Snowflakes
[Challenge from DreamEvil]

Not so very long ago
during a midnight it chanced to snow
and early, around 3:00 a.m. or so,
I awoke to a glistening glow.

There was no sound, no apparent life,
but only in a fairy tale-like dream,
could I imagine souls like crystal snowflakes
come upon my scene.

For there was a sparkle all around
as the skies had cleared and the moon abound
forth, over the land covered white,
my crystal snowflake souls and I, alone in the night.

For each flake was an individual spirit
before it joined its companions white
and like my world, they all joined in
unity, to make things appear so right.

So may souls like crystal snowflakes
abound round you this year;
and keep in mind during summer;
that in rainbows they will appear.

A lovely scene of tranquility, Sunshine.  Beautiful.

What a lovely piece of writing, Sunshine! I especially enjoyed the last line of your first stanza, partly because I respond strongly to the alliteration, but also because of the sheer simplicity of your phrasing. Loved how, within your poem, the snowflakes each were souls, and were transformed in summer to rainbows...such an imaginative concept!

Sunshine...I don't believe you and snow could exist at the same time, you're so bright you'd melt every last bit. Lovely poem

What a lovely compliment, Hoot - thank you - but haven't you seen the Sun do wonders to a snowcapped landscape?  Engulfs the imagination...

Thank you, Caroline.  At first I didn't think that line belonged, but now I see that it does.
