The Other Side Of Dark
by ©Richard Budig 2000

Her hands flashed to mind
as the rounds came in.
Something about her hands,
the way they slid over me
in the dark of the night
before I left for the war,
and now, going in on the LST,
with the rounds chattering by,
I saw her hands again,
and I thought to myself,
if I die, I’ll wait for you
on the other side of dark.

This says a great deal in very few words, Richard.... What greater musing in time of need?.....
