Pretending

We get off the ground and I hold my breath
Its just the jump from ground to air that makes me nervous
Everybody around me keeps reading their paper
Playing on their laptops

They pretend they know what they are doing
Tap, Tap,Tap
Hmm, Clinton’s in trouble again
Would you look at that cloudburst, my goodness

And I think to myself how foolish I am
How foolish of me to think that I’m in a projectile
That’s hurtling through space at speed’s that don’t even exist on land
So I pick up a crossword and start to pretend.

Eeek!  I know these feelings well, and have often sat and wondered at the people around me whilst sitting in our little tiny seats; whether or not they realize we're being shot throught the air!

Well done!

May I never be too busy to help another's load,
Then I'll be drinking from the saucer 'cause my cup has overflowed.

I have to do alot of pretending myself when I have to get into an airplane!
This poem captures my sentiments exactly!
