I've had a bit of schooling in my lifetime. I've learned much
Of many things like mathematics, history and such
But I find there's an area that still befuddles me…
What is this inter-action that is known as chemistry?

Is there some instant recognition of one's mind, by chance
Which tells us we can love or trust another at one glance?
Does some electrical impulse help cause our brains to act,
Connect in some configuration to produce this fact?

I've felt it time and time again with strangers in the street
That I would never know or ever have a chance to meet
And yet, I knew if I would like them, quite instinctively
Due to this strange phenomenon that's known as chemistry.

Pets are very good at this. A dog can always tell
If one would be unkind to him or one would treat him well.
You want to know if Mr. Right is really right or wrong?
Agree to meet him for a date - and bring your dog along.

All that I mean to say is there must be some kind of fact
To cause like-minded souls to recognize and inter-act.
Some aura or some magnetism from some unknown part
Releasing unseen pheremones detected by one's heart.

You ask me how I know this force of Nature to be true?
I feel the same reaction every time I look at you.
The warm glow that envelopes me each time I see your face
Is proof enough a chemical event has taken place.

Then, through this strange reaction, cheeks take on a rosy blush
Small goosebumps make their presence known whene'er I feel your touch.
The palpitations of my heart begin and , yet, a peace
And calmness overtake me in harmonious release.

The light becomes much softer as I look through loving eyes
Which shine so bright I view new worlds in wonder and surprise.
Since that first time I saw your face, I've felt this change in me
And, though I understand it not, thank God for chemistry.

It's invisible but it sure exists.  Enjoyed this walk in the park deer.

In the dew of little things,
the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.

I'd say you're quite the scholar,
to have learned such useful facts.
The chemistry sure seems easier
when someone is looking back.
Go to the head of the class,
Mr. Balladeer ....
your chemistry grade is phenomenal ...
I think you'll pass this year !

This was great Mike!! Something I fail to understand as well. You do seem to have the general idea down pat though.

Chemistry is something that,
Always takes me by surpise.
It's that special feeling when,
I look deep into to your eyes.

It's falling free with out fear,
When fear is of your nature.

Well I was interupted by my children and the train of thought just died.

Elizabeth....I know you do.

Severn.....I do enjoy

Martie....a 'deer likes nothing better than a walk in the park.

Rainbow....forget a new cat. Try a snake...

Marge...To see your name come up again is music to my eyes
Your chemistry will always have an "element" of surprise!

Denise...if my lines are grabbing you, they are very happy lines   Thank you!

You know I'm completely dumb founded for the word I'm looking for here. It's floating around in this space somewhere I just can't get it to come together.

Excellent Balladeer as always!  By George I've got it. Spiritual discernment! That's what I was looking for!< !signature-->

Don't worry about the source of the chemistry - just be glad you have it. I'm glad you have it and express it so well.
Enjoyed it greatly.

Yes, I remember not too long ago, when Balladeer used to answer "free puppy/free kittens ads in the paper...just to meet ladies and try to get something started....(and even if it didn't work out, he still got all those puppies and kitties for free to feed his python...rats have gotten quite expensive these days yanno).....I think perhaps he has a chemical imbalance somewhere....but his formula here is quite quite nice.....Very nice work here Mr. Deer...

Chemically spoken
Love is like a single token
A molecule a single cell
Attract in each other’s spell
Two together in one room
Might attract each other depending on the moon
Tow others might not get close
The light between them only glows
Your poem certainly has chemistry
I’m sure your molecules will attract a certain "she"
Enjoyed it very much

Chemistry is what has our 'Deer in doubt,
The way it seems to work when he has to do without.
But that's not the only scholastic discipline,
That in the past may have gotten the best of him.

One night when our young Deer was out really late,
With a frisky lady (Trish) on a frenzied date,
She looked down and said, "Is that a stump I see?"
Deer was just as surprised, "Oh! Gee-Ah'm-a-Tree!"

It just goes to show that Deer wasn't very sharp,
He thought his stump would become a tree if it was really dark.
But things got worse when he retorted to Trish about what he saw,
"Gee, Trish, do I detect you're wearing an algae-bra?"

Well, little Trish got all upset at Balladeer's remarks,
While they were a parking and smooching in the dark.
And so she told our hero, "That's enough for me."
And from that night until this day, he's been History.

Balladeer it is an amazing thing, then explain this one.  Sven and I 'found' each other, never speaking or 'seeing' one another.
Not an aura, but a mental/spiritual signal that can travel across the world.... heavy stuff.  If you ever find an answer let me know!!!

Oh, boy! Home is the sailor....home from the sea. How you been, barnacle scraper? Just drop by to read my incredibly touching and romantic poetic endeavor and then tear it apart like the unfeeling cad you are? Oh, the pain! I'm gonna call Toe for sympathy. LOL!

Isis, I can't explain it but it IS true. When I see a person's words on the screen, even without seeing or being around the person, I also can feel that special emotion generate just from the contact those words provide. Spooky stuff for  sure.

I don't know, if you take them on word value alone, they could be piling the lies on you, and you don't know to believe or not to believe.  Anyways, I am digressing here, not only a visual thing, but a spiritual thing.
Hugs to you dear Balladeer

'Deer - Chemistry isn't all good, yanno.  Toerag tried chemistry with his main squeeze, and it made her shed every ounce of wool.  Now he has to make his rags outta sheepskin instead.  I think that's why he went off to school - somebody told him he could get a sheepskin, and that was all it took for him.

'Deer

I apologize for not saying this sooner - this is a very good poem - tight and it really flows well.  Additionally, the story line is very consistent.  I like the way you used more than a single stanza to introduce the main theme.  You must have put in a lot of work on this peom, because it certainly shows in the quality.
