Never Again

I wrote this poem shortly after I had broken up with a girl that I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with, and then, it was gone, she left me for her ex-boyfriend one week before homecomming and the night went on to become a very very painful event (Long Story, anyone who wants to know about it just email me). But anyways, here you go.

You made me happy
when you said a single word,

Yes.

You broke my heart
when you said a single sentence,

Lets just be friends.

But I opened back up to you
let you back in,
welcomed you back in.

And yet you broke my heart again
sitting on HIS lap in my presence,
calling HIM just a friend

So I closed my heart off,
didn't let anyone in.

I want to try to trust you
but my heart tells me
"Never Again"

I try to reason with it,
try to get it to understand.

But it wont let even me in
A thick cut it bares within.

I finally get it to let me pass
and then I see you with HIM again
Pinned against a locker,
his tongue probing within.

I shirivle, I cringe, I run away,
knowing within,
That my herat is torn,
Never to fly again

Welcome to Passions, Derwood! This is a great poem, expressing well the pain of betrayal and lost love. Give it time, you will fly again.

It hurts, doesn't it?  At the moment that's all you have to say, and there's not much we can say back to you except that we know, we do understand, we've all been hurt.  And we quickly move on to another poem.

But one day, when the scar tissue's formed, and you can feel and think again (and yes, your heart will fly again) you'll write another poem about it, and say something about how you handled it, or what it meant to you, or what men and women are, and the rest of it will read it and think, "that's so true, I never thought of it that way, I'll make that part of me . . ."

And that will be the real poem.

They say
If you love something let it go
If it returns to you then it is true love
if it doesn't then it was not meant to be

I know this does not heal your pain
But remember what you gain
A door just closed, leave it behind
A new one is about to open wide
Look at the new door.

Nice account, we all probably know how you feel. And Welcome

I love the sparity of your style - excellent.

This doesn't happen often but I had tears rising - they say everyone goes through the hurt of such an experience - but the sharing of an experience doesn't make it any easier does it?

Welcome to Passions - where many share their poetic tears.

Welcome to Passions. You have found a family of friends here. We share our joys and our sorrows, laughter and tears, triumphs and tragidies. We lean on eachother and try to sooth the bumps in this road called life.

I hope you can feel our friendship extended to you.

So sad, and hurtful I'm sure. Many of us can relate to this!  You will fly again one day.

Yes, unfortunately, probably all of us have known betrayal and loss of love sometime or other.  I, too, am very sorry.

You are on the right track, though, taking pen in hand (or fingers to keys) and painting your pain on the canvas of your soul, with the brushes of language, using the paint of emotion.  Pain, sadly, often brings forth the best poetry.  Keep writing, keep writing!

I could never put it better than Ted.  He said it all.

Welcome Derwood,

I am sorry for your pain, I think all of us have had a love simular to the one you describe, in high school. It was not easy then to deal with and a broken heart is not easily mended. Please know that you will find what you search for and all is not lost. You have friends here and we feel for U. Take care!!

Sounds like she lost a good thing...a very sensitive guy who thought she was the world.  Unfortunantly there are girls out there that give us with true hearts a bad name...sigh...  I hope you realize that this was her loss and not yours hun, and welcome to passions, your poem has much soul!!!

Derwood...first Welcome to Passions!! We love having new people!! Second, I must agree that it hurts and now your heartwings are singed, but please have faith that when the healing sets in you will be among the clouds again and any woman worthy of you will fly along by your side. Excellent painting of pain, am awaiting a portrait of joy someday.
