On my grandmas mantel a dozen photos line, Black, white and yellow ones set in the olden times. A young girl stares with long dark curls, Around her neck hangs a string of pearls. The mantel clock has just chimed four, These faces ive not seen before. A photo of a gloomy face, Now somewhere in a heavenly place. A child on a swing laughing having fun, Her little life had just begun. A smile familiar, i recognise..? That little girl has grandmas eyes. |

Wonderful image, Lisa. My grandmother's mantel jumped into my mind. The photos and the beautiful clock ... thank you for the memory-maker. ~Marge~ |

Wow, Lisa.... You've been in my Grammie's dining room, it seems.... ![]() The only empty spot in the room is the table-top... the rest is pictures... LOL - and I'm turning into her... Nice job here - I love it! |

I really enjoyed this one! Lovely, and well worded, my favorite part was the sweet and poignant ending! ...Living is ever like crossing rivers; finding a new life on each shore ... RJG |

Lovely poem and full of nostalgia for me as well. Took me to my grandmother, my mother and me. In the dew of little things, the heart finds its morning and is refreshed. (ee cummings) |

A very special poem, I would say one that deserves to be framed and put right there on the mantel with the photos. |

Cute, very nice and touching The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools. |
