How many times can your heart be broken by the same person?
I know its more than once and when it happens twice is the pain the same.
Is it more intense the more you cared,
Is it more intense the more you shared.
And if they liked you less and you liked them more,
its much easier for them to walk out that door,
full of excuses and throwing all the blame on you.
I suppose the excuses she uses are sad but true
and she's free to leave without one if thats what she wants to do.
She said I'm older than her father and our age difference will never change.
She said when I snore at night I keep her awake.
When she gets restless at midnight she says she has to go.
If I could only tell you how many times those words have sunk like a knife deep into my heart,
and how quickly my feelings and emotions are torn all apart.
I feel so much hurt and pain in just one brief little moment that my anger explodes and pours out all over.
I know she's leaving to buy more cocaine..with ill gotten money she has to obtain,
as she walks down Pacific Coast Highway and the cars stop to get her,
to see if she'll give them some moments of pleasure.
Finally, she has the money in her hot little hands,
with a quick stop at the usual place, she now has the product of her addiction in her face.
Just a flick of her bic and now she thinks she's in heaven....ever so briefly...it can't last forever.
Soon she'll get into another mans car, silently thinking, he'll get his pleasure and than its her turn again.
And so I watch while this drug that controls her continues it's mission to kill and destroy her.
I Love her dearly...will she ever hear me?

I wrote this is 1995 and she's not in that situation anymore but she still has some work to do. James

What a beautiful poem..she is lucky to have someone like you behind her..holding her hand if she stumbles

Thank you cokey...I value the time that I spent with her. She was my desire and my passion. James
