Spare Change?

For years upon years
I have perfected my craft.
Became adept at the construction
building poetry to last.

Strugling to form, shape
carefull word upon word.
Always disciplined, precise
the emotions to be stirred.

Laughing out loud
as to my great dismay.
Realizing the why of rejection
as the publishers do say.

While chasing perfection
craftmanship, discipline my goal.
The others see childish
too simplistic and narrow in role.

So, with sorrowfull heart
I toss rhyme by it’s  collar.
Now asking, “Spare change?”
while chasing their dollars.
