The clouds do draw a veil across- The moon’s poor, timeworn face. The sun has fled to seek asylum Somewhere out in space. The wind does croon a lonely dirge I hear it sigh and moan- As if it’s heart’s in tune with mine, So sad and all alone. The sky’s a somber shade and hue The stars no twinkle give... As if they, too, are missing you- Have lost the will to live. Ah, dark and melancholy mood- Why dost thou haunt me so? To grieve and mourn no comforts bring As I too well should know. Amnesia? What a blissful draught- But not for me I fear... When memories, on me do call They always find me here. If you should hap to think on me I may as well confess.... I right here where I’ve always been That same old, sad address. |

Another beautiful work right out of the heart..You have such a soft and beautiful way of expressing how you feel inside-and that is because you live what you feel..My dad is 76 and lives by himself and he tells me everytime I call him "Oh, I was just thinking about old times and memories.. Our memories are like the bed of ashes left over after the fire has died out- yet the heat in them is so hot and concentrated..so are our memories..they serve as a token that we might be able to look back and judge our own selves and all that we have known and done.. Sometimes they make us sad and lonely, yet look at the beauty that comes out of them-GS. Just read your poem once again..I been there to and got the T-shirt..Read my poem on page 2 I believe called The Agony of Death.,under the post of Femme's Father..May God Bless you.. Ask God to send you a friend to share the rest of your days with..The Bible says to ask and you shall receive, if you only believe what you ask..paraphrased somewhat! Again bless you and thanks for the read.I know it came from the Heart! Love your stuff. |

Ya know - I'm not normally into melancholia... but you certainly do express a somber mood with some pizazz..... I really like this one lots, GS.... Nicely done... You're even good when you're feeling down, my friend... ![]() |

"The sky’s a somber shade and hue The stars no twinkle give... As if they, too, are missing you- Have lost the will to live." Gosh, Gunslinger...I don't know whether to cry or applaud, or both! This is a deliciously lachrymose composition...just reading it makes one want to weep. So skillfully written, as is all your work, but this one brings with it that question that I'm sure is far too personal, but that I am inclined to ask anyway...are you alright? You know, our poetic license allows us to inject our "first person" into much of what we write, regardless of whether or not the text of the poem is depicting our actual current personal scenario... Just wondering how you're doing. Love and shared peace, ![]() |
