Our Marilyn has a date tonight! I wonder what she's doin'?
She told me that it's been a while since she's done any wooin'.
She's nervous as a puppy on this very special night.
Marilyn's got a date. This bozo better treat her right!

What is she wearing? Something sexy? Something quite demure?
Perhaps a little bit of both since she's not really sure?
Perhaps a little daring, showing something.....not too much
To give the indication he can look but must not touch.

Will he show up in time? Will she be ready when he's there?
Did he think to shine up his shoes? Does he still have his hair?
Will he bring flowers or candy geared to fill her with delight?
Our Marilyn's got a date tonight. He better treat her right!

Where will he take her? Somewhere nice? That's what I'd like to know.
Perhaps a cozy dinner, afterward a picture show?
I told her "Take a laptop and send me hourly reports".
I'm sad to say she answered with unprintable retorts!

Will he treat our girl with respect or will he act quite rude
And buy her after-dinner drinks to put her in the mood?
She is so innocent and has been out of sorts so long
She may be hesitant to act if he does something wrong!

If she permits a goodnight kiss and hug when evening's through,
And he tries for a little more....will she know what to do?
The dating scene has changed and she's been gone for quite a while...
I hope that he is smart enough to say goodnight with style.

Oh, Marilyn, where are you, girl? We're waiting here for you!
We need to hear details and to know you made it through.
I didn't realize that you had planned to stay out late.
He picked you up at seven and, well, it's already eight!!!!

I understand how you must feel
She probably tells you "Dad get real"
Clear you put your thoughts in words of wisdom here
She probably tells you "Dad have another Beer"
To let go is hard to do
But you gave her winds to fly
and she wants it too
Helmut
Nice lol.

Here I am, Yes here I am
Nothing went according to plan.
He called me up, in the afternoon.
Was stuck in Calgary, a business tune.

I went out last night but was alone,
I watched the ciy in a somber tone.
Disappointment in my life,
Has really caused me too much strife.

I visted my second home,
Coffee and a bookstore dome.
Authors were my company,
Two came home but not for free.

A cold salad was my dinner mate,
Can you truely relate?
Balladeer where you friend?
To make my disappointment end.

My date was in Calgary on business and was supposed to arrive home Friday. He was delayed there and the date didn't happen. I had already made arrangements for my children so I went out alone. A poet once said that solitude and aloneness are two differnt things. Last night I was indeed very much alone.

Oh, Marilyn, I'm sorry, too.
I know it meant so much to you.
Hey, authors are always better lovers
No dissapointment between the covers!

Someday your prince will come along
Until that time, keep yourself strong.
There is one thing that makes me sad...
These people think that I'm your Dad!!!!

I see they think you are my dad,
This also makes me very sad.
I must confess,'Tis my delight
To tell this tale and set them right.

Balladeer is not my Dad,
He is a friend, don't make him sad.
He is for me, so much more,
He makes my spirits soar.

You see, I love this gentle man,
He's always there to lend a hand.
He picks me up when I am down,
Makes me laugh when he's a clown.

He knows my heart and loves my soul,
He has purpose and a goal.
He shines his light to all he meets.
Sometimes he wants me 'neath the sheets :0
(Hey it rhymed!!..lol)

Marilyn -

Thank goodness
you have been found.
Not one to just let
run around.

Balladeer can
now rest with ease ...
and get on with
his poetry.

You've got to admit,
he's quite a guy ...
and you can't blame him
when he tries.

Balladeer -

Great poetry.
Great fun.
The mystery is settled.
Marilyn is home.

What a guy !
