What is Your Pleasure? (A walk in the woods) What is your pleasure, what do you desire? Why do the wooded hills your spirit please? You walk just as you did in ages prior Disappearing in among the trees Are you the one who stops to hear the sounds To take a breath of earthy forest scent To witness deer-print on the softened ground Or follow creature paw the way it went? Are you the one who leaves the trodden way Stepping over log and shaded fern To find a newness on an April day Discovering the joy of spirit's yearn? When lost among the song of meadow lark How do you finally make your homeward way? By mossy green on northern edge of bark? Or filtered sun that points a fingered ray? What is your pleasure, what do you desire? In sorrow and in grief you disappear And walk the wooded acres to inspire A soul that's filled with anguish and with fear You ask what is my pleasure in this strife? -To find the things of great intrinsic worth -To hear again the orchestra of life -To breathe again the essence of the earth Elizabeth Santos |

Now you've gone and did it! Made me homesick. I didn't think anyone else but I loved and knew about the smells of the woods and the sweet sounds of the forest silence except me! Especially a lady..Wow! You painted such a picture of memories for me. I have lived in N.W. Ark. all my life until last spring when I moved to Dallas for a while{I hope]. I miss the essence of nature there more than anything else. People who live in concrete cities will never know what God gave them to enjoy..Thank you for the reminder again. You must be as fragrant as nature itself to express "the moss on the north-side of the bark, wow, I am impressed that you know this. May God bless you Liz! james david |

Balladeer, Whiskey and Moonmoon, Glad it gave you pleasure. Thank you Liz James, There is no place like the woods. I have hiked them since I was very young. Of course, you must know about the moss, otherwise, how would you know your direction on a cloudy day? . If you sit still long enough it does become an orchestra of life. Glad you liked the poem. Thank you for your kind comment Liz |

Very nice, my friend. I, too, love a walk in the woods or the swamp. You know this Cherokee loves walking the forest without disturbing anything. Breathing in the essence of nature. Thank you for a vivid picture. Love ~Marge~ |

I grew up with the wilds as my playground - and they still hold my heart - they and the ocean for I was lucky to have both in my little slice of Paradise. This poem is a gift Liz. Thankyou for it. K |

A lovely walk in your mind Liz that pulls so much beauty from around that I feel I have been there while sitting in this chair. In the dew of little things, the heart finds its morning and is refreshed. (ee cummings) |

This is very good and yes I like to walk through wood' But staying here online to long all the trees perhaps are gone so I shall log off and step outside to see if trees are there or if there hide If trees are there I will be back And stare again here at my Nec Yery nice poem I like it The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools. |
