While you were sleeping While you were sleeping, I sat by your bed. I watched you as you smiled through your dreams. I traced your perfect shell ear, Touched every curl On your little head. I tried to sleep But the sound of your breathing Drew me back to your room. I couldn’t resist The magic which tugged At my heartstrings And brought me to your side. I settled on the floor Once again. Back against the wall, Holding your tiny hand in mine. While you were sleeping I fell in love with you all over again. ![]() [This message has been edited by Nan (edited 01-11-2000).] |

Tugging at heartstrings seems to be a passtime for your writing. Now and forever, my heart hears ~one voice~. ahhhhh.....Tara, the love for our babies is the best, isn't it? great work! Oh man....I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes. Oh, how I remember those days when my children were little and I'd go into their room just to watch them sleep, to touch their hair, to pull the balnkets up around them...this poem brought back so many emotions. Nicely written Tara!! |

It's an almost undescribable feeling I get watching my children in peaceful sleep. It truly is magic. Captured well, Tara. Michael |

Thank you everybody. It is magic, the way they enrapture us. And I love every minute of it! It matters not how strait the gate; How charged with punishments the scroll; I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul. --W.E. Henley |

moonmoon, cheers! First_Knight, I hope that someday you will know the joy that children can bring into a person's life. It matters not how strait the gate; How charged with punishments the scroll; I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul. --W.E. Henley |

Jeff, Temptress and Elizabeth, thank you for your comments! They are appreciated. I know most if not all parents probably feel the same way I do, but you know how it is. It feels like I'm the only one who experiences the magic at watching my kids sleep.
