Where in the world is Balladeer
Last time I looked he was not here
He was a couple weeks ago
But where he's gone I do not know

A "Waldo " of the written word
I know this may sound quite absurd
But at " Community " he does not show
His presence more than M. Marceau

There's no question he's quite sage
His name they post on every page
It's on the bottom in plain sight
Which way'd he go to left or right?

Credit given where it's due
Jim even named a ship for you
So we implore you Balladeer
Won't you please come back and steer?

Another thought for what it's worth
If he's no longer on this Earth
Let's man that craft out to the stars
To find this Balladeer of ours

 Sometimes nonsense isn't .

I know that Toerag really wishes
I were sleeping with the fishes
Or rotting in some old cellblock
With doors that have a triple lock

But, fact is, I'm in pest control
You all know that...and it's my goal
To spray and lift up every rug
Until I've found the Y2K bug.

I've heard all year it was around
But it must want not to be found
'Cause, though I search both day and night
I haven't even got a bite!

I gave up all my rhyming ways
And, Like a rat caught in a maze,
I've searched through all Ft. Lauderdale
But I can't even find its trail.

So now it's time to quit the search.
I'll get back up upon that perch
And sing a verse or villanelle.
That Y2K can go to hell!!

Thanks for missing me.

Your poem seems to have done the trick Doc.

Balladeer
I spent New Years Eve sitting around waiting to catch that critter trying to get on to the puters at work. It didn't show up over here either!

Yes, I admit your general rule. That every poet is a fool:
But I myself may serve to show it. That every fool is not a poet.

I had no doubt
That he was about
Our good old Sir Balladeer

Killing little bugs
And Y2K thugs
Keeping us save for another year

But now that they're dead
He can start filling his head
With more wondrous poetic verse

Hunting  the big game
A Toerag by name
The rhyming man's lyrical curse
