Why have you done this even before I was born? Have you now conscious or even no scorn? As I layed in your womb and the days passed on by, your only concern was to get your next high! The first time it hit me my body shook with fear, for little did I know that danger lurked near. The needle you sank made you feel 'oh so fine,' little did you think I had crossed that same line. To you it was heaven, to me it was hell! I couldn't reach out or utter a yell. I laid curled up tight in a strange 'fitful sleep,' while you kept on lying with no promise to keep. You left me alone for myself to defend, and pushed in the drugs right into the end. My hands are the size of Daddy's little nail, and you don't even think you did anything to fail. But God has got me safe inside his arms! When will you realize, yes, your cocaine harms. I am quite a fighter and I'll see this through. Now I am me, but just who are you? Before you can love me and call me your own, you must first love yourself or face life alone!! ~*~ ^i^ ~*~ Love is such a lonely art, and death is but a taste. Minds are merely instruments that often go to waste! ~*~ ^i^ ~*~ |

WOW!!!! Echo.....I'd like permission to print this out for use in our Healthy Begginings clinic. It's amazing how everyone see the picture so differently. This poem said a lot to me as I've seen the results drugs and alcohol as well as smoking can have on newborns. A challange well met, thank you  |

LoL, I was just thinking the same thing, about how everyone see's the picture differently, but that might also be because I have seen this happen before and the picture brought back that time. Good Job Echo....Well done! Hoot....Why don't ya just take me to the healthy beginnings class? Then ya can show them the effects all those things have on folks even when they start at a much later age?......Sad shape this world's in yanno... |

Echo, Its so sad that people actually do this to their children , I wish children were safe from all of these things but sadly they dont have much say in it when the mother does such terrible things , Powerful message in your poem well done |
