Soundless screams reverberate,
...within her naked soul,
Seeking solace never found,
...she cedes to dark control.

In silence of the bedroom waits,
...arrival of the night,
Eerie calm of pending doom,
...when shall the fear requite?

Shall the demon wear its mask,
...in phantom's glow of light,
Or stalk in ebon blackness,
...cloaked in pain's delight?

Silent threshhold broken,
...by screams that fill within,
Pounding, tearing, searing rage,
...that rents unfeeling skin.

Darkness fades, its anger spent,
...quiet numbed to pain,
Silence in the bedroom waits,
...for darkness once again.

This is quite a dark one for you, Mike, quite a departure from your norm, but, of course, very well done.

Unfortunately in my line of work... darkness is always there...

Not an easy job, I'm sure...
I don't envy your responsibilities...
your writing...that's another story!

Wow, i read this and loved it.  Your description of the demon is amazing, discussing which way he will torment..  I thought it was brilliant.  I'm new to this forum, but was wondering out of curiosity, what is your line of work that would cause such dark thoughts and feelings.

Prosecutor: I get to see the true evil of man (and woman) first hand.  Thanks for the comment patchoulipumpkin.

Well, Mike - I can only say that it isn't every chamber that contains such darkness.... Some are drenched in sunlight...

Demons can be found in many places and darkness in so many hearts.  You have written of it well.

In the dew of little things,
the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.

Wonderful and dark, almost Gothic. Loved it.

Quite the way to pummel profound wisdom into your words and into the reader. Likes me much it does.
