Weeping rose forced to grow you take no comfort in your beauty held back by trellis and twine pruned by the greedy need of a selfish man though your thorns prick his flesh and make him bleed still he does not relent in cutting you down to fit his designs yet through this all remember your fragrance is sweet and you delight the eye of every passerby though your value is lost and outer beauty obscures duty Weeping rose run wild with delight for yours is the season and your beauty the reason men seek deep inside and try in vain to hide their longing for you to adorn their side Therein lies your pride. ©2000 DreamEvil Now and forever, my heart hears ~one voice~. Scott, this one cut into my flesh like a knife....it felt as if you had cut through my exterior and peered inside. I wonder how many women are prisoners to this same experience? I suppose the challenge, then, is for us to make the choice to run wild with delight....thank you for reminding me that indeed, I can. |

Only you, my friend, could come up with an analogy like this. A rose, shaped by the will of another -- "trellis and twine" --brilliant! And the thorns pricking ... trying to resist ... WOW! There isn't enough space for all the things I can read into this. So I will just say "well done." --Kess You cannot choose the way of your death, but the path you choose will determine its own end. |

A rose is most beautiful when left wild to grow. 'Tis ashame that most don't realize that in the case of flower or human. Wonderful poem my friend. Terri Truth be known, fantasy is much more appealing than reality. |

A beautiful poem, sad in it's ways, but the ending was great! Open arms can be the most fragile in the world... |

'Twas inspired (yes I said inspired ) by the plight of a friend dear to me. I am grateful for the replies but saddened that so many identify with this piece. Thank you much, the recognition of peers is a prize indeed. |

I don't know how I could overlook such beautiful poetry, well I guess I didn't after all The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools. |
