SNEAKERS What an ugly little thing you were With coat all gray and dirty You crawled into my lap one night When you really hungry and thirsty. You wormed your way into the room Where you knew food would be You gave a plaintive little meow And I could plainly see That you were not so ordinary You had a certain touch of gabby Scruffy little piece of fluff, Marked all over like a tabby I fed you some warm milk, a little bread I didn't have any kitten food But you seemed happy with my gift The meow said, "Hey, that's good." You went into the living room And made yourself quite at home. You took a bath and then a nap Sleeping peacefully in my arms. You were so young and orphaned And I couldn't bear to turn you out. Although a cat was not on my agenda You made me forget that, all about. I've had you now for 14 weeks and man, you're getting big!! You are sweet and loving and then You're mean, And oh yeah you are a pig!! I've pampered you with catnip and toys Including the ones with the squeakers. But thinking how you snuck in my heart You have earned your name of Sneakers. Shawna R. Holder 12/99 My son found Sneakers and brought him home around the beginning of November knowing I did not want another animal but this one was so little not really even weaned and skinny as a rail. Now he's healthy and robust and I don't know how I did without him. And he really is sneaky haha. Poetry~ Words falling on paper, painting a dream. Shawna R. Holder Boise, Idaho |

How adorable! I love all my cats and that's exactly how I feel about them. Very nice. ~Astraea "Sometimes stars can only be seen in darkness." "Sorrow's crown of sorrow is remembering happier things." |

How wonderful I have two cats myself, I found one like Sneakers just over a year ago and gave him to my elderly mum and dad, best thing I could've done for the three of them. From one animal to another well done!! At the touch of love everyone becomes a poet. (Plato) ~Isis~ (Daughter of Mystery) |

Isis, thank you for your reply. I love animals of all kinds including reptiles (alot of people are afraid of them). I'm glad to hear that the stray you found has a loving home. Now if we could just give people (kids) the same kind of consideration it would be a much better world. Poetry~ Words falling on paper, painting a dream. Shawna R. Holder Boise, Idaho |

This is so precious, WildChild! For some reason from the title I had a feeling it was about a little kitty! So cute! I also love animals. They give us the kind of love we couldn't find anywhere else this side of heaven! Denise |

I am a cat lover from a way back. There is nothing any cuter that a kitten or as loving as a cat. However, I found out at an early age that I am allergic to the cat fur so I cannot have a cat. Please give yours an additional squeeze for me. Happy New Year!! The only way to know Love, is to Know God. |

Denise I am glad you liked this and I think you are right. Animals are very loving if treated well and they do give us a little slice of heaven. Mae, I certainly will give Sneakers a hug from you. I'm sure he will greatly appreciate it. (He's a hug hog) Poetry~ Words falling on paper, painting a dream. Shawna R. Holder Boise, Idaho |

Shawna great little poem there! I love the name Sneakers too....we used to have a grey one that came up on my doorstep we named Peekers. I don't have her anymore, but she could be so loving and then turn so mean. But she was like a watch dog, would follow the kids to the bus stop and attack the biggest of dogs when they came on the property and send them running....Thanks for the memory! <*\\\>< Where there is faith, there is love.
