It was a hazy day last summer
the tide went the other way,
day turned into night,
the full moon was shining bright,
wind picked up as the sun went down
and this strong feeling came around.

I'd rather sail at night when the tides
moving right, and the wind gives full sail,
stars prevail, as we follow the moons trail.

  We'll never make our destination
with any moment of hesitation
I'd rather sail in desperation
than make any move at all.

Where headed for Rhode Island
five days round trip
it doesn't take a scholarship
to realize the fix we're in.

We've listened to Buffett most of the way
until James Taylor came to play,
our friend Bruce Clienman made the way
through the dawn of the coming day.

And the morning haze slipped away.

I think I would rather sail at night also, but maybe because I am a night owl!

First verse gives off quite the calming effect. Not sure I would want to sail when I can't see. But I bet the open sky would be just breath taking at night!

Paul-

Nothing with more serenity
than sailing.  And sailing at
night ... with stars and moon overhead
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !

Top it off with Buffet crooning ...
I WANT TO GO SAILING RIGHT NOW !

Certainly this makes me wanna go on a boat trip.
But I can't getting sea sick
So I enjoy sailing by reading such a nice piece
Well done Paul

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

Night sailing sounds soooo romantic and mysterious Paul...perhaps I should try it! Love the way you painted the picture!

Paul, I just knew you were a Parrothead!    I liked this piece, and enjoyed the notion of sailing on through the night with Jimmy and James Taylor and the all the other son of a sons...

I liked this one a lot, especially the second stanza for some reason. And the obvious play on Rhode Island and Rhodes scholar. Clever and fun. I can do without the James Taylor, though!

Paul, I think I'd rather sail at night too. The heavens must be stunning!! Good job. Very vivid and very calming. Thanks for a good read.
