Sitting in Michael's Lap

0 posted 2000-02-05 10:20 AM

No more psalms of love
Shall spring from forth my pen;
No more such tender words
Shall pass my lips again.

No more passion's fire
Shall in my bosom rage;
Nor lilting phrases grace
This blank and bitter page.

Nevermore shall I
Swing wide the spirit's door,
Nor suffer lover's traipse
Upon that sacred floor –

No more supplicants
Shall at my altar kneel;
Nor shall their whispered words
Inspire me to feel.

No more foreign lips
Shall touch the silver cup;
Nor shall I break the bread
And with another sup.

I, in solitude,
Shall in my temple dwell –
For only empty shrines
Can thwart the Infidel!

 Full fathom five thy father lies,
Of his bones are coral made,
Those are pearls that were his eyes;
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange...

Skyfyre,
You have written your message in the sky
Without a wimper, a falter, or sigh.
Exquisitely in simple word.
Just like the song of a bird.
Wonderful poem. Skyfyre, words fail me. Trying to describe what I'm feeling right now is impossible. I think I'll have to settle for " this is FANTASTIC"   -SEA

Whoa!
Kess, I have to heartily agree with Sharon on this, (or she said she'd kick my hiney, but that's beside the point!) Submit this piece. I think it would fit well into the "Sad Poems" section of the main site!

But first... I'd like to make a suggestion!

"Shall spring from forth my pen;"

Great, sounds perfectly poetic, but I think it's almost forcing acceptance of grammar there. My sug: Swap "from" and "forth." I don't know if this will mess up any of that fancy form stuff, but sounds better to me 'dat way!

"Nor lilting phrases grace
This blank and bitter page."

Rockin' m'lady!!!
