Last Night Out He sits there by his window- Staring out into the night Wond'ring what she's doing.. She knows it isn't right. To leave him with his mem'ries Of the times that they have known To come awake one morning And to find that she was gone. He told her when it happened- That he would set her free. She told him that she loved him And didn't want to be. She's just a girl of 25 With all her wants and needs He's just a cowboy, paralyzed It seems nobody heeds. It happened at the rodeo In Houston just last year- He drew a bull no man had rode Her heart was filled with fear. She called him on the mobie phone Somewhere along the route When she found out what bull he'd drwan She asked him to "turn out". He promised he'd do what she asked And would not make the ride She didn't know until they called How bad her lover'd lied. He bucked off and got hung up They finally got him free Not knowing that a half a man Was all he'd ever be. She comes in of a morning And smells of smoke and gin She gives evasive answers When he asks her where she's been. He's had all he can take of this; Her having all the fun- She'll find him waiting up for her This time he holds a gun. Visit My Home Page http://www.geocities.com/montcogunslinger/HomePage.html |

Ruby, don't take your love to town! Sad story all around and well written as usual. DH |

This reminded me of that song by Kenny Rogers, 'Ruby' or was it called 'Don't Take Your Love To Town'?(I'm bad with titles)! This is excellent writing, Gunslinger! Never a dull tale do you tell! Denise |
