Late last night a few of us,
Were hungry for a snack.
We stopped at an all night diner,
We sat way in the back.
We all ordered somethin' to drink
Some coffee, tea and cokes,
And gabbed about all kinds of things,
And told some dirty jokes.
We didn't cause no trouble,
Till suddenly a man
Leaped up from his barstool seat,
And pointed with his hand
Said to us with burning eyes
His voice was like a hiss:
"The sky is falling, the world will end!
And then right after this,
He turned to run,
But hadn't seen,
By the door, the gum machine.
He knocked it over, with a crash
And left the diner in a dash
Gum balls were spilled,
Went off the curb,
No one seemed to care,
No one even spoke a word,
"What the hell's eating him?"
We wondered in the lull.
This is not a true tale but;
Who needs truth if it's dull?

Yeah, who needs tedious truth, when you've got galloping gumballs! Thanks for the grin...needed it.

I knew it was fiction when y'all were sitting around drinking tea and cokes! *G* But even if you claim the truth is dull... this is delightful!!! Every time this day starts to get me down, I'll think of gum balls scattered all over the floor... and people will wonder why I'm giggling. LOL. Great job, Toe!!!

Now Toe -- if'n the truth is so dull man -- then how praytell may it render such imaginative fiction if it be not interesting ???

See -- the way I figure it -- you ... well.. nevermind I can't post that here..

OK, Mr. Toe, SIR! You paint perfect pictures and take us into your scenes!

So, now.

I would love to see that serious, poetic side again!  I imagine there is even a romantic in there somewhere?

Yes, I'm talking to you!  I see you pointing at your chest and looking behind you.

What?  Not up to the challenge you say?

Pashaw!

Yo Toe!... Consider the following....
The old coot was the One-True-God... and the gumball machine was the universe full of worlds... then "CRASH"... the big bang and all was spilled into the gutter. And there you and your buddies just sat in the silence of the void calculating the tab. Hmmmmm.... Who's to say he wasn't right?

Like you said... Who needs truth when it's oh so dull?
