she can't see where she is going
the road is misted over
and try as she might
she still can't see…
is this even the right road
and isn't she going
much too fast?
She's out of control,
why is she here?
she must have made a wrong
turn somewhere back there,
she doesn't remember
that there was no going back.
Her hands leave the wheel
like it or not, she's got to see,
to no avail she turns the wipers.
The rain is on the inside
and not stopping it seems.
She clutches for the wheel
and swerves …a near miss…
a street sign called Destiny.
She gasps and reels
with what could have been,
but now will never be
and silently she swears she will never
never go this way again

if only she could see through this rain,
if only she knew what was up ahead
