Rest in Rome

The cherries on her lip tasted better with age.
Blues on blacks spoke like dancing swan.
A whisper from Mozart and Beethoven gently rested between the ears.
Unannounced angels flew over the midnight sun.
The Gods stirred the insides one last time.
Blowing out the fire.

Trees fell onto Garda as Ole’ Diavolo floated in.
Tessa with bleeding heart threw useless Lira into waters.
Truth swarmed over like wild hornets.
Dining on Bella Luce cuisine would not be.
Dancing to Roma would not be.
Her love with Sergio at the Bernini would not be.

Sergio watched as the Gods stopped time.
Amore did not leave when she flew to be with the Mozart’s and Beethoven’s.
Death did not fill this ship with the constancy of hate and mourning.
Separation is a place where quarreling lovers go.  There is no time where two
of the same kind can go alone.
She is the universe and she holds Sergio, Earth and Sun between her palms.

The water is now cold from the melting snow on the Apennines.
It is dark enough to fall in together. Nobody will hear the shiver.
One last look at the resting suns glow.  A simple smile to say goodbye to Garda.
It is now the time to close these crystal windows and travel with Tess!
Never been as far as Sicily. I love you Tess.

A moment of calm peaceful bliss hangs over Rome.
The wind blows with the words I love you.
