We Think Alike , You and I It's funny how the mind conceives Of thought and notion it believes And it may take a different hue But think a thought the same as you Perhaps the thought is just the same But worded in a different name Or have a slightly different cast But still the same, in sameness last And who's to say the vision's hue The blue you see is truly blue And though my blueness lighter be It's really all the same to me Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 01-29-2000).] |

Very intriguing very I had to read this a couple of times Perhaps I'm slow lol It's like Great minds think alike Well done Liz, wow The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools. |

Elizabeth!! I like..... I have often wondered, what with some many of us on the planet, how many of us sneeze at the same time, laugh, cry or whatever at the exact same moment. Yes, even think the same thing. I also wonder....is the color green the same to you as it is to me?? Or red or blue or... I mean....I love Brussel sprouts...yet some hate them...can our taste buds taste differently?? Please answer all my questions! hehehehehe Robert |

Your responses to this poem are interesting, and Robert, you are very close. Two people might percieve the same word as representing different thoughts, or one thought may be called two different names. Someone's God might be called a different name, but be the same, someone might think the same way I do about the Holocaust, but like I, have no words to decribe it. There can be a thought that has no word in our language. But that thought might be expressed easily in another language. This poem means that one persons notion of blue might different from mine, but we're both looking at the same color and calling it by the same name, so it makes no difference to me if your perception is different from mine. Get it? I'm not good at expressing my thoughts. Liz |

Well, I have to disagree with you, Elizabeth. Your thoughts were expressed very clearly and if you were able to get through this dense head of mine I don't see that you have any problem with expression. Denise |

Dear Elizabeth, Comparisons between perceptions is philosophically meaningless. There is absolutely no common ground to share the essence of sensation. You are absolutely correct. Safwan |

Elizabeth, my friend You've gone and done it again. Threw me in the brink of common think and then in a blink out on a limb Clinging to my shade of blue hoping you could see it too Wondering what you would see if looking through the eyes of me Realizing in a glance there is just the slightest chance that we would meet on common ground in shades of blue all around Of this there is no doubt I do love the brussel sprout! ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Safwan, I don't know if I'm correct, I'm only saying that it's not important to ME if what you see in your mind is different, I'm not saying that it's not important. It's important to some people, like theologians, but I'm not a theologian, nor a philosopher |
