Perception

We sometimes measure happiness by our desired fate
It thrills the heart imagining what future things await

We measure pain by the degree encountered in the past
The fortunate recall that painful moments rarely last

We often look at others' lives to measure our own strife
Whatever weight the burden, it's a valid part of life

We measure sorrow by the crucial wound already dealt
The deeper in our soul it pierced, the less this time it's felt

There is no way to measure love. It has no depth or bounds
The heart's desire is limitless wherever love is found

If love has brought us happiness, then endless is our bliss
If love was lost, the sorrow is an infinite abyss

Lizzy - this is just beyond words. There are none really. In this time of testing you are writing such poems that fill my heart with admiration for you.

Love ya.

Liz, you are so wise with wisdom and truth.  These are words to live by, and beautifully done.

Thank you all, dear poet friends. This was one of the first poems I wrote, I'm not too much in the mood for writing, so I've pulled out some old ones.
Thank you for your kind remarks
Liz
