Raining Tap Shoes at my Window

Last night I heard a constant tapping
deep within my sleep persisting
it woke me startled to the questioning
of the sound’s origination.

Like nails beating on a tin drum
falling constant cadence growing
music of the night entranced me
raining tap shoes at my window.

The boat that we would use for fishing
now deleted capsized sadly
behind the house and bedroom window
was the instrument of the drummer.

Oh, the fun of boat we thought then
floating lake of placid greenness
with our lines demurely dangling
where the big ones slipped and slithered.

With excitement so delicious
the motor freshly polished shinning
gassed and ready for the catching
batted hooked and net at ready.

What a sight for our dear parents
watching us with proud devotion
maneuver into depth’s precision
waving jumping in excitement.

Then the motor lost its magic
and we two were without paddle
and the distance changed its measure
boat and water lost its charming.

Battling current with our muscles
paddling slowly back to landing
without lines demurely dangling
shiny dream of this fine fisher.

Now deleted capsized sadly
behind the house and bedroom window
covered still by leaves of autumn
raining tap shoes at my window.

Martie: One of my favourite subjects...how I love to listen to the rain...you know when you're slightly deaf the sound of rain is what you miss most, you can feel it but never really fully understand the lyrics...

"raining tap shoes at my window"

Magic!

HUGS

Don't ask me where I'm going, just listen when I'm gone and far away you'll hear me singing softly to the dawn.

Martie-
Your words softly falling,
as gentle as the rain.
What a delight to read your
writings.
You have tremendous talent.

One of my favorite sounds also...and Rainbow's right...this piece is magical Martie!
Love the title....I've noticed that your titles are as beautiful as your poems...and that is Very Beautiful!

A soul that writes from the heart and shares it, truly gives a gift extraordinaire!
