Shadow on the wall |

Shadow The night has left soft and silence fills the chamber. Daylight broke, as always and forever. I see a shadow lingering there on that wall. Gloaming in the fading night seems hardly real at all. I cannot believe is this all true? The shadow on the wall, it’s you. Candles burned down long ago. But your shadow remains Shiver fills my veins I wish the shadow would disappear. That I could see you, you would be here. Shadow; shadow on the wall, you in beautiful disguise. Thousand fold, and more, I begin to realize. But to hold a shadow is only an illusion. I feel my heart beating, questing for conclusion. If I could hold your shadow near. I could pretend it’s you my dear. I wish so much you could be on my side. I would carry you and hold you tight. I wish I could say, “The shadow it’s all what’s there.” “ I rather have you, …to share.” “ If I could hold you in my arm.” “ Hold you close and keep you warm.” “ I can forget the shadow, pasted to that wall.” You could push it away, I will fall. But for now, the shadow has to do. Cause’s it’s the only thing I have of you. I hope to hold you soon in my reality, The shadow is just history Memories of you, ..I have. That’s all. There are melting with the shadow, …there on that wall. The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools. |

Finely crafted writing, Helmut. Past loves are like shadows....spectres of our past...outlines of a reality we used to know. They can appear so real we almost think we can reach out and touch them but, when we do, we realize that they are only shadows and remnants of happier days. Needless to say, your poem made me think. I thank you. |

oh nice job...... I don't buy temporary insanity as they murder defense. Because people kill people. That's and animal instinct. I think breaking into someone's home and ironing all their clothes is temporary insanity. |

Helmut Becker, my friend- This is just beautiful ! My, how you've captured elusive shadows that are real to us all. I especially found a fondness for: 'But to hold a shadow is only an illusion. I feel my heart beating, questing for conclusion.' Wonderful job. ~*Marge*~ < !signature--> ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com [This message has been edited by Marge Tindal (edited 01-25-2000).] |

(Dear Helmut, Part 2) lol I loved this piece...the way you've shared your shadow here gives one to recall other times, other places, shadow and light and faces. Thank you, dear Helmut. Claire |

Very well written, Helmut, somtimes you just want to grab onto a shadow. Sometimes we remember things the way we want to remember them. Some shadows are just illusions, some are real. But either way they are haunting. I enjoyed this poem Liz |
