Just a second (I think) |

Give me just a second? I often take far less To think about what I should say whenever I digress. How I envy some's contemplation, their carefully chosen thoughts, As opposed to my impulsiveness, when I say what I should not. There are too often times when the words refuse to come, Then suddenly the dam breaks and they begin to overrun My ability to compose myself and take from the roaring stream, Only the uplifting thoughts that reveal the best in me. Though it's wise advice to take a pause before setting words to pen, I often miss that second's thought before dashing off again To write words that freely flow with a will of their very own, And that drive away the friends I love, and reap the seeds I've sown. hmmmm. Now that I think about it, I realize I'm not alone, That others also struggle for the second they don't own. As a matter of fact, on looking back, its becoming clear to me, We all could use a second of thought, though in different degrees. |

Great poem Carry a book in my truck to remember things that come to my mind sometimes because once the verse leaves my thoughts its lost. Richard |

A second thought?....It takes forever to come up with one?...I need another beer....I need a fix?.....I need to quit this stuff and start another life? I need, um, uh, I need to just give up.....the best in me is like saying; "I might make one line rhyme and then Balladeer would go beserck?....... |

like this a lot, and yep, a second's thought can sometimes make all the difference...I have never regretted the words I pen when I sit and think, but let me be impulsive and hasitly press send and then here come the moments I should have spent thinking...that now I spend regretting.....great job my friend |

Thanks for the kudos, spiked and fc. Toe - you old rascal - I've read rhyming lines you've written (unfortunately, they were in different poems - lol). How is it going, you old workaholic? Has your nose been sufficiently ground down yet? |

And reaping what I've sown is all too often a bitter harvest. *S* Well done, sailor! |

Nope, still got a little nose left...I was wantin' to get into rehab, but how can one choose from so many?...Should I go into alchohol rehab? Drugs? General mental correction?..None of these bastards offer a warranty or guarantee?....They ain't got one for insane poetry?....On the other hand, who cares about any of it?....I thought about just getting a "patch" for all of it, but I've had a hell of a time getting a Budweiser label to stick on my arm?....I think I'll go get a beer and talk to the bartender about it...they're so knowledgeable about such things yanno? |

Impulsive is he This husband of mine But there are times Impulsive works just fine. Like the times when he is open With his feelings for me And the sweet words come rushing Like crashing waves in a furious sea. Impulsive when he takes me in his arms Making sure I feel the world holds no harms Yes, there are times when the words flow like daggers Piercing whatever it comes near But impulsive is definately what makes this man of mine A man of commitment and I'm so glad he's mine. Toe...get a Pres Clinton patch? you know..panties on the arm? |

Well, impulsive is great yanno? If it wasn't for impulsive, (and usually repulsive), I'd have little to offer here or anywhere else...... |

LngJhnAg, great words to heed. Toe, does the beer patch work, after the beers gone? Can you drink a beer with a beer patch on, or will I get beer poisoning. Parker |

LJA: Having pondered on this for a while, I think, if I took those seconds, I'd be forever silent...now I wonder if that makes sense.. Guess I have the 'doors' syndrome.. HUSG Don't ask me where I'm going, just listen when I'm gone and far away you'll hear me singing softly to the dawn. |
