Ok Ruth, hope you don't mind, but I modified your phrase a tiny bit... I wanted to make it a Vilanelle, so I just took away one little bitty "s," to make it "shadow," instead of "shadows." Hope that doesn't disqualify me!!! ![]() In the moonlight, shadow-dancing Faerie form cavorts upon the ground With gait graceful, so entrancing. Forever she sways, romancing. Her hips seducing men, spellbound In the moonlight, shadow-dancing. Each night she spends a-prancing Atop the prison where she’s bound With gait graceful, so entrancing. Yearning to break free and glancing For love to join her, ever-bound In the moonlight shadow-dancing. So she spends her time a-chancing Screaming her anguish with no sound With gait graceful, so entrancing. Until then, never advancing She moves silently, flower-crowned In the moonlight, shadow-dancing With gait graceful, so entrancing. |

Christopher This is sheer beauty dancing. Light, lilting and lovely. What a pleasing poem to greet my morn. Ahhhhhhhhh ! ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Delicately crafted and poetically seductive, your faerie, shadow~dancing. Enjoyed this very much! (and a belated Happily Birthlday to you!) Claire |

Looks like a villanelle to me, sir ... ![]() And a good one too -- course you know you can never go wrong with me as long as you use "faeries" as your subject! I agree with Marge, what a lovely way to wake up! ![]() --Kess Full fathom five thy father lies, Of his bones are coral made, Those are pearls that were his eyes; Nothing of him that doth fade But doth suffer a sea-change Into something rich and strange... --William Shakespeare, from The Tempest |

I have to agree w/ everyone else m'friend, this is beautiful - but hauntingly so...it made me sad, she's trapped and can't 'get out'...you write w/ eloquence m'dear, very much enjoyed the read. May I never be too busy to help another's load, Then I'll be drinking from the saucer 'cause my cup has overflowed. --Author Unknown |

This had a great atmosphere of sensuality to it. I enjoyed reading it. ![]() |

I am impressed. An unusual take - and it works well. ![]() 'Writing sharpens life; life enriches writing' Sylvia Plath |

Is there nothing you can't do. I never heard of this style before but I like it. |
