This Is A Poem To Write On Your Wall |

I have been doing some major cleaning out and found several poems I wrote over 25 years ago, when I was in high school. Thought it would be fun to post them.... This Is A Poem To Write On Your Wall This is a poem to write on your wall, To cover the time-faded stains; To accent the light that fills your room And brighten what color remains. This is a poem to sing you to sleep, To greet you each morn when you rise; To give you a smile to start each day, To calm you when you close your eyes. This is a poem to remind you of me And to keep that memory warm; To guarantee a place in your heart To keep my memory from harm. This is a poem to give you my love, To whisper the words in my heart; To say the things that I would say If only we were not apart. [This message has been edited by Beki (edited 01-24-2000).] |

Beki- This is a beautiful poem. How nostalgic to have found this among your things. Thank you for 'dusting' it off and sharing it with us. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

How great you still have things that you wrote that long ago.. What happened to the guy that it was written about ot shouldn't I ask?..*g* HUGS Don't ask me where I'm going, just listen when I'm gone and far away you'll hear me singing softly to the dawn. |

Thanks everybody, glad you enjoyed reading this...wasn't sure if I should post such old work Rainbow, I have boxes and boxes of journals, dating back over 30 years. But every once in awhile I come across a loose scrap like this and the other HS poem I posted ( Forgive Me). As for what happened to him...well, he was the bane of my life for many years...even after I was married but I haven't seen or spoken to him in about 15 years..at the HS reunion I heard he had become an alcoholic Transportation policeman in LA who was often reprimanded for using extreme force....so sad.....he wanted to be a doctor, and could well have been. SIGH... |

And you know what, Bekkers - you still got it! This poem was remarkable for the talent it shows, and the talent you've become. Incidently, had that guy just stayed with you, he coulda been a contenda (or a doctor). We men have a way of pressing the self-destruct button a little too often, don't we? |

Sigh -- why doesn't anyone write things like this for ME? LOL -- that wasn't a hint, Beki -- you're not my type and I hope I'm not yours either, haiku mistress though you may be! Wonderful, lilting, and I do believe it deserves at least another read, if not a place on the wall! --Kess Full fathom five thy father lies, Of his bones are coral made, Those are pearls that were his eyes; Nothing of him that doth fade But doth suffer a sea-change Into something rich and strange... --William Shakespeare, from The Tempest |

WOW! I am overwhelmed by the response to this very early poem...thank you everyone. Haleyja - You are right, some truly are timeless. I think I will post some more and see how they fly Thanks for the encouragement. Long John - (Beki curtsies in a very genteel manner, definitely not her own LOL) Thanks for the compliment, and you male types do seem to be good at cutting your own throats, don't ya? How lucky for you we female types are around to help stop the bleeding Joy - thak you for your little poem, I will take it to heart And Skyfyre - (Beki smiles) Rest easy, you aren't my type either, but thanks for the bump to the top |

Hi, I know I am coming in on the tail end of this, but wanted to say I like it too! I had some poems I wrote in highschool and they somehow managed to have got thrown by the wayside, wish I could remember some of them. Thanks for the read.. |
