On winter nights you can hear wolves howling at each other.

On winter heights you can hear wolves crying at the moon.

On winter nights the wind blows the snow slowly to the forest ground.

On winter heights you can hear wild horses running through the snow.

On winter nights you can hear the noise of thundering hooves flying through the crispy snow.

Oh, winter nights!

I love the way you describe the wilderness in the snow.  It makes me feel like I was there, the sounds, the pictures.  Lovely poem.

Bienvenidos!

This struck me as Native American style poetry ... which I adore.  Simple, artless, and exquisitely beautiful nature poem.

--Kess

Full fathom five thy father lies,
Of his bones are coral made,
Those are pearls that were his eyes;
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange...

WELCOME!  Great imagery and the sounds you hear in winter! Love it!

Welcome to passions
I read a lot of it in your poem
Which is very good
I love the wolf and the wild horses too.
Thank you for this beautiful poem

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

Beautiful images!  I can just hear the howling, and the thundering of those hooves!  I can feel the chill of the snow.  It gives me goosebumps.  I love this poem.  Welcome to Passions!

Katie,

On behalf of all us angelic-like sailors o' the sea, welcome to Passions.  Now, let me take you under my wing and give you wise counsel.  Watch out for Toerag!  He is a scalawag and a rascal.  Never believe a word he says that impugns my purity.  And watch out for Balladeer, because he is too good to be true (unlike me).  Just remember, if you have any questions about the characters of these two ne'er-do-wells, you just come to ol' Long John and I'll set you straight.

Great poem...  I wonder, were the horses running because the wolves were after them?

Katie, just another welcome.
... On winter nights I get so cold and lonely
I need some company, so I come here.

Awesome Katie!  You also make me appreciate winter more.  I tend to loose it's majestry in the cold miserable weather!
