Under The Same Skies

Under the same skies,
we lay
in separate beds;
tossing and turning;
dreaming of being together.
Sixteen Hundred miles between us
and our beds become prisons,
in which we are shackled
in lengths of blankets and sheets,
incapable of finding release.

The feel of your touch,
not yet a memory,
still only a fantasy,
haunts me and fills me with desire.
I breathe your name,
breathlessly,
into a pillow stained with tears.

You call me,
in the middle of the night,
to hear my voice,
because you can not sleep
for thinking of me.
My voice, your comfort,
makes you long for me
even more.

We whisper
to each other
as we drift off to sleep,
thinking of how, someday,
we’ll lay
together
under the same skies.

You are a poet of immense passion, Hoot_Owl_M, only one who experiences life to the fullest could fully express such feelings!

Ahhhh!
Such longing in the night.
Two souls sharing the same
pillow of comforting love.
Hoot, this is soooooo lovely.

Oh my dear.  I feel every word that you have wrote here.  I can hardly live each day knowing that you are under my sky...that in each night as I look at the moon.  You see the same as I.  Though I can not touch your hand...or feel your lips.  My heart knows you well,  as I echo these feelings in the halls of my own heart.  It crys so often now and as I called you last night....you put the comfort back in my day.....my life.  We will be together soon and the touch I need.....the touch only you can give....it is in that touch that I find me.  I love you Ruth and thank you for this lovely lovely poem

 Drive it like you stole it...LOL And another thing...When I rev my engine I want people to think the world is coming to a end....hehehe

I have been moved once more by a poet that has the ability to take my heart, and speak to it like a father to son...

Thank you hoot_owl_rn

Oh Ruth!  This made my heart go pitter patter -- I felt your desire!

Well done, and may those 1600 miles melt away soon!

Of his bones are coral made,
Those are pearls that were his eyes;
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange...
