A Young Life Lost By Miss Abagail Mannering The shot rang out from the thicket of trees and blood did spout from a chest once heaved. The cropse fell slowly, once rosy cheaked- to the fround now holy without uttering a shriek. The life source pooled around the still boy... who, just the day before had played with a toy. The laughter buggles not from lips once red; for he slumbers forever in his earthy bed. (written April 8, 1999 during my civil war class.) |

Yes, it's sad but true, its the old men who have already lived their lives who send the young men with so much life yet to be lived, to war, to kill and to die. And each time a young one dies an older one also dies on the inside knowing that they have lost a loving son or daughter to this thing we call war. James |

Oh, what have we become? There are too many "young lives lost" even today. |

i wrote this poem right after the columbine high shootings..it was kinda inspred by that, and by my civil war class...consider it a poem that suits any century! "Some people aren't worth a puddle of ant pee in the middle of a dessert when it's 100 degrees in the shade." -me |
