Gagged by a tongue in an unwanted kiss Scared and revolted, too young to resist, Held down and touched as no child should be, Lonely and frightened, but no one believed. Tearing away to arms of shelter and trust Only to be scolded, told that I must Endure in silence - don't ever speak! A plea went unanswered when no one believed. Did a glance of sympathy flick in an eye As they turned away from a desperate cry And somehow condoned such monstrous deceit? Innocence died when no one believed. You stole without conscience what was mine to give. It bothered you not that I had to live Empty. Guilty. And the hatred still seethes. I scream in the night cause no one believed. |

Tragic and heartbreaking. Excellent poem, Suthern, about something that no child should ever have to endure.... Denise |

Suthern: I know you can't see my face but I think you know how I feel about such animals...I'd happily string the bastards up and leave them to bleed dry! Love you HUSG< !signature--> Don't ask me where I'm going, just listen when I'm gone and far away you'll hear me singing softly to the dawn. I missed this the first time around, and sorely upset that I did. I'm glad I didn't miss it this time though, even though the poem is gutwrenching and heartbreaking. You've written so well, about such an awful subject...and it just makes me so mad that things like this happen, and worse, that there are people who know something is going on and yet do nothing to stop it. Grrr...the thought makes me see red. God couldn't even come close to helping the pitiful fool that would ever try to do this to one of my kids, or one that I know. May I never be too busy to help another's load, Then I'll be drinking from the saucer 'cause my cup has overflowed. --Author Unknown |

Suthern...as soon as I read the title, this poem came back to me. So tragic the story, it has stuck with me. Hugs |

Painful and poignant, Suthern. This must have been extremely difficult to write. Corinne |

Too many women I've known have been haunted by this specter in some form or another. Begining with my own mother. A vastly under-reported crime I think. I am proud of you auntie! a nephew huggsz! [This message has been edited by Local Rebel (edited 01-21-2000).] |

Corinne: It took many, many years to unjumble the emotions so that I could write it. *S* Thank you... and thank you, too, Pepper! LR: I think it probably happened lots in yesteryears... and a child's psyche was much easier to sacrifice than public embarrassment. I pray that ceases! Even now, words like "I'm proud of you" bring tears. I appreciate everyone's kindness very much... but it's been an emotional rollercoaster of a day and I'm saying g'nite. *S* This was written some time ago and lived a lifetime ago... but my guts still churn. |

Belle Your words leave me empty inside, ashamed of being a man because another man could do something this bad. We are not all beasts; but, God, it seems there are too many of those types of animals to claim that at times. The poem was well written, Belle. |

Long John: Dear friend... don't ever be ashamed for being a good man... the world needs far more of you. Though I abhor them and their actions, I'm not ashamed of being a woman because there are women that treat their children worse than animals. We just have to work to stop the beasts. |

I took a double dive when I read the first stanza The title did not caught my eye I’m so sorry and my heart is bleeding for you Speechless you find me Wishing there was something I could say Wishing to make it go away Emptiness is all I feel I sorry for what you had to go through. A heartbreaking poem See I'm not the only one that feels ashamed by such action. Remember Weeping Willow. The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools. |

Suthern I believe I missed the first time too. This is so heart wrenching. It makes me so angry to hear of these things. It's just terrible that kids have to go through this, and I'm sorry you were one of them. But you are a survior and you've made it Hon! God Bless you!!! (((HUGS))) <*\\\>< Where there is faith, there is love. Where there is love, there is peace. Where there is peace, there is GOD. Where there is GOD, there is no need. Hallmark |
