Our furnace decided today was the day,
The furnace man, a visit must pay.
It's cold outside, and inside it was getting the same,
And after all we know, being cold is a pain.

So the call was sent out for this busy soul,
But while we were waiting, a bell did toll.
You know the part, why not see,
If we can buy it, and replace it for free?

So the phone came in handy
And the results were just dandy.
Homedepot sells it!!!
Run out and get it!!!

Less than a hour later and $6.26 spent,
The "furnace man" downstairs he went.
A few minutes later our prayers were heard,
The gas went a rumbling and heat was splurged.

Now if you are wondering who this handy man might be,
He's none other than the sailor and my husband thee.
So next time you have a problem come your way,
Use your brains...and do not pay!!!

PS...the last time the real furnace man came, he charged us $72. to tell us the problem, $31.03 for the part!!!

Great poem, Lorelei!! Nothing like having a handy man around the house, heh?  My husband fixes washers and dryers, so I never have to pay those $70. house call fees!!

Balladeer-a furnace is one of those things that we have to have so that we can pretend we live in FLORIDA like some lucky people we know!

Such a wonder, that sailor of yours,
Is still able to light a fire somewheres,
At least on a furnace, some heat at last,
He does have experience, when it comes to gas.

Ya mean the sailor is good for something? (other than those dubious attributes Toe mentioned?) LOL

Enjoyed the read, Lor... glad you're warm again... it's been in the high 70's here. *EG*

But Denise... y'all will get the last laugh when I'm sweltering in 105 temps with 98 percent humidity this summer! LOL

Not really, Suthern......that sounds close to what Philadelphia is like in the summer!! 98-100 with 98% humidity sounds just about right! I think I need to find a more friendly climate!!! Seems we get the worst of both summer and winter in this area!!! Plus I live in a brick 'rowhouse' (townhome for you 'suburbanites'..hehe) with no cross ventilation.....whew! Talk about uncomfortable!!!

Thank God for furnaces and air conditioners!!

Boy had to get out my dictionary for this one...let's see furnace..oh, ok.  Wind chill factor..ah, I see!

It's 80 degrees here today..a slight breeze.. I can smell the blossoms on my tangerine tree...

Do you think your sailor man can fix my air conditioning?

Cute poem!!!!

Lorelei-

A furnace?  Hmmm ... I think I
saw one of those once.
Nope, I was wrong ... it was just
a FLORIDA sunset !

This is a cute (and come-in-handy hint)
that could be used when the A/C goes out.
Heck, it's cheaper to just *perspire*.

Thanks for this adorable post.

Darn those furnaces...brr, tis cold isn't it?
Devine and Balladeer just have to rub it in whenever they can. LOL...
I think they ought to pay us for calling them whatcha say?
