My Suit Of Armor I built a suit of armor Crafted from the finest steel To free me and protect me So no hurt and pain I’d feel The face shield large and heavy It’s design it took me years Welded, molded, fastened closed To dam the flood of tears My arms which once had held you Were put into their place Encased in metal, fastened tight No longer to embrace Legs that once had carried me From one heartache to another I immobilized with rivets strong And bound them to each other Last, there came the breast plate By far the thickest part Encapsulated in layers deep I laid my fragile heart So now my suit is finished The armor fits me well But instead of freedom, I am trapped In my solitary hell _________________________________________ My Suit Of Armor (Sequel) I built my suit of armor Crafted very well Hid myself from all to see Inside my metal shell But in your wishful searching You found a simple flaw An imperfection on my part That no one else had saw My armor unpenetratable Or so I once had thought You began to work your way into Even though I fought You started with the faceshield Took me by surprise Loosed my tears, bared my face To look into my eyes Next, my arms so tightly bound You unwrapped and then set free Teaching me to hold again By holding on to me The legs that I had shackled So I could walk no more You unbound, and led the way To new worlds to explore Last, there came the breast plate The strongest from the start You worked your way into its steel And touched my very heart Now, I stand before you My armor at my feet You’ve won this battle, I’ll admit But, I don’t claim defeat Yes, the armor lays here Reflected in your light Its metal strong, now is dulled But I am shining bright "I am nothing special, of this I am sure. I am a common man with common thoughts and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me , this has always been enough." ~Nicholas Sparks from The Notebook |

This is beautiful and deep and emotional Ruth. You expressed your emotions well! ~*~ Hell is not a place of fire and a devil with a tail and horns. But a place of torment because the light of God is gone. To escape this, accept the blood of Jesus Christ! ~*~ |

I remember these too Ruth, they're still so very beautiful. Thanks for reposting What comes from the heart goes to the heart. Samuel Coleridge |

Deep, honest, and true this is and I hope I don't disapoint you. I am doing my best I have learned that the pain of a lost love will fade, But the memory of having loved will last forever. |

I have to say I don't remember this one, probably because this is the first time I've seen it. But after seeing it, I know I'll never forget it. This is truly wonderful, Ruth and may your armor grow rust and fall completely apart.... |

I'm glad you dropped your armor Hoot--a wound won't heal if the bandage is too tight. Enjoyed reading these expressions from your healing heart. In the dew of little things, the heart finds its morning and is refreshed. (ee cummings) |

Hoot, as I sit here and read these words, I cannot even express how I feel. I too wear this suit, it is slowly breaking down but I am afraid it won't completely. This is absolutely wonderful! It expresses how I feel everyday as I struggle through learning to love again. Thank you so much for sharing this..I was never fortunate to read this before, as I am new here, so I am so happy you reposted. Beautiful and so emotional, this hit home for me! Tamera |

I got chills reading this one..good work. I especially like this verse: My arms which once had held you Were put into their place Encased in metal, fastened tight No longer to embrace. Nicely done |
