There comes a time in every life-
When we would like to flee.
And seek a solitary place-
Where folks would let us be.

When bills, unpaid, do burden us
And family drifts apart...
And coming age, and graying hair-
Lay heavy on one’s heart.

When youth has gone, we seem alone-
So weak, so??? un-content?
And think of vows we made and broke,
And wonder where life went.

We think, “It would be better far-
If I went forth alone-
And left behind my problems here-
But duty drives us on.

Duty? That’s the unseen power-
Which hold our deeds in check..
Without it, friend, we could not stand
Our lives would be a wreck.

And in the heat of battle-
When all around give way...
And we would flee, it’s duty friend,
Which makes us stand and stay.

Love is great, I must confess
But in the hour of need-
Emotions like our fickle love
Will fail. We need a Creed.

"I said it, and I’ll do it".
And therein lies the beauty...
In every home which will survive
You’ll find a sense of duty.

Ain't that the truth!? Well spoken, Gunslinger!

And slight is the sting of his trouble
Whose winnings are less than his worth;
For he who is honest is noble,
Whatever his fortunes or birth.~~~Alice Cary, ~Nobility~

Slinger-
And don't we all just do it?
Terrific, again.

I can agree with you on this one, duty seems a good title for it...if only there was that little hidden place to escape the bills and such- I'd be there in an instant!!!!

Well said!
Somewhere out there,
where duty stands tall,
devotion plays a roll,
a smitten hearts call.
(couldn't resist)
