I guess it was my birthday
when it came in a box,
it said a million pieces,
but no picture on the top.

So now my life sat before me
too young and not yet able,
but as I got older,
I slowly opened the top,
and dumped it on the table.

From that moment on,
spent time spreading
out the pieces,
searched out all the corners
as well as the sides,
solid frame holds it all together,
so inside the peace can abide.

I'm just a part of a puzzle
with its own million pieces
put it all together,
try to fit it all in,
see the big picture,
as well as have lots of fun
by the time its all done.

Wonderful description of life, and its being such a puzzle!  I especially like the line "no picture on the top" and that's why my journey is so much like feeling my way in the fog, sometimes, fitting those pieces together in the dark, so to speak! I wouldn't have thought of putting it this way, though many times I write of it!  Great imagery!

Life can surely be like a puzzle! I enjoyed this, Paul!

Hi Paul,

Oh so clever a muse.  I could see myself putting the puzzle together.  Whew, a million pieces!

Such a clever idea for a poem, Paul. I salute you. The problem is we spend our whole lives putting that puzzle together only to find out at the end there was a piece or two missing!

...or someone comes in with their feather duster and scatters the pieces.  Enjoyed the poem and the unusual look at life.

Very lovely, as always.  I love puzzles, especially with no picture.  You never know what you come up with in the end, and it is always beautiful when you know you've accomplished it.  Nice.

Paul, really the neatest idea here! Life is so definitely a mystery, but to liken it to a jigsaw puzzle is so appropriate. I especially like

"solid frame holds it all together,
so inside the peace can abide."

You always seem to have an interesting veiwpoint!

Paul,

YOU are the solid frame of your life, and of your family's.  You are the peace keeper.
I love this poem.

This is a great poem.... Hehe... My puzzle has pretty much the outer edge in place... and pockets of the inside together... but I need to find some of the "connecting" pieces, ya know???

oh how I love doing puzzles (ot about 5 of them for Christmas).  They are so much like our own lives that it sometimes scares me.  When i cant find the piece I want to a puzzle, when Im missing a piece, it sometimes gets aggrivating and seems pointless, but I keep on going with the puzzle and end up with the finished picture that I feel proud of (although sometimes pieces are missing but thats when I go to the next puzzle LoL)  All apart of life's strange 'puzzle'  great poem!

Paul~
Ironic that I am here taking a break from my own jigsaw puzzle tonite  .  Very wonderful writing, very deep in meaning.  I have always believed we are but millions of pieces, waiting to be collected, sorted, and admired in our completion.
