ALL THAT SHINE Is it only imagination When I walk the ocean shore, That glimmering sensation The sands here and there deplore? I'd never really given them thought, Entities all their own. Why but one in each million lot Might be so brightly shone. Perhaps each shore's a galaxy Each sand, a planet or star. Where only shines the mystery Of life scattered afar. Perhaps each sand's a human soul, All dark, alone by fate. Where all that shine are those made whole In finding their true mate. Perhaps each sand's an ambition, A secret hope or dream. Where few ever come to fruition, Ah, but how those that do gleam. Maybe the sand's sole intent Is to remind us day by day, Live your life to the fullest extent... Even all that shine soon wash away. Michael Anderson < !signature--> It's the little things you take for granted, That'll mean the most to you when they're gone. [This message has been edited by Michael (edited 01-14-2000).] |

Oh, how true! Excellent, Michael! But of course that comes as no surprise to me! Denise And slight is the sting of his trouble Whose winnings are less than his worth; For he who is honest is noble, Whatever his fortunes or birth.~~~Alice Cary, ~Nobility~ |

Hi Michael, So much seen in the sands. Very good read. Maybe the sand's sole intent Is to remind us day by day, Live your life to the fullest extent... Even all that shine soon wash away. Rus [This message has been edited by Rus Bowden (edited 01-14-2000).] |

So very rare to find that one that will make our lives shine. We would all be in the dark if it wasn't for the Son. Good poem, Michael. I look forward to meeting you. The only way to know Love, is to Know God. |

arghhh, me matey - an' that be why I stay on the seas... I not be wanting to be compared to the shining sands of poets like yerself. This poem is a great metaphor, Michael. Truly inspired. I like the way you introduced the subject in general terms, and then narrowed in on the true message. Obviously, you must have worked on this poem for more than a few minutes. |

Oh Nan! I am green with envy at your graphics! ![]() And to Michael, this is exquisite.....makes me give the sands a second glance....I too, have held grains in my hand, and wondered about each piece, their significance....You have some beautiful ideas and thoughts on this subject sir....I too, like how you wrapped it all up there in the end. Very nice indeed....I also look for ward to meeting you. ![]() ** I'm reaching for the brightest star I've ever seen - knock my ladder out from under me, and you'll wish you hadn't !! -pFF ** Here's to 2000! |

Excellent poem, reminds me of the phrase the sands shift slowly through the hour glass and such are the days of our lives. I like how you expounded on each grain of sand. Really enjoyed this one. |
