My husband, Ray, had a stroke in Dec. and 2 re-occurrances in January.  During his hospital stays, his malfunctioning aortic valve was discovered. An angiogram in May showed he also needed a double by-pass.

June 15th, the valve replacement and double by-pass were done.  He had a terrible time in ICU, nurses were on a constant run, but he didn't respond as expected, so an exploratory surgery was done June 17th,  removing blood clots from his chest.  Then he began improving.  Discharged today, he was transferred to a local nursing home for rehab, but he's very weak and tired.  His vein harvesting wounds are showing signs of infection and he's not breathing as well as he should be.  Last night he was kept in the hospital after almost being discharged, because his heart was out of rhythm.

Once he's on the mend from this, we have to tell him there's an aneurysm in his abdomen that needs to be fixed, too.

Any prayer or thoughts for his well being would be greatly appreciated.

Also, Randy, our oldest son drove here (Illinois) alone (from Sacramento, CA) to help us through this.  I pray for his safe return drive beginning the 30th.

Thanks to the greatest group of poets ever!

  Rae

Many thanks for each and every good thought and prayer.  Ray should be released from a local rehab center this week.  He walks unassisted with his walker, and is anxious to come home.  It's been a month and one day since his second surgery.  He's getting a bit of an appetite back, but no where near what he used to have.  He's down to 182 lbs. from over 200 before this began.  Now a size 40 waist, so I sent all his 46 and 44 size pants to Good Will along with his XL shirts.

God hears prayer.
Thanks again to each of you.

God bless,
Rae

Thanks, Titia.  Friday is his discharge day, so we're looking forward.  This coming Wed. we'll be back at the hospital where they'll take a better look at his aneurysm, to get a precise measurement.  Then we'll see his good doctor who will advise us.

Ray's goal has been to make the big family reunion, on his dad's side, in northern Wisconsin the first week in August.  I made reservations yesterday. Thanks be to God!

A most grateful heart,
   Rae
