Mommy Muys had a bladder infection the last few days, but this morning I got a call from the doctor that she had developped a very high fever, over 40C (104F) and the doctor was afraid that her bladder infection had turned in or could turn to a pyelitis. So I raced over just in time to see mom disappear in the ambulance on her way to the hospital in Brugge (Belgium).
I've spend over 6 hours with her in the hospital and luckily the fever dropped quite a bit.
She has to stay for a few days and I'll hear the results tomorrow.

Then, when I called my sisters to tell mom was in the hospital, my eldest sister, who's husband was somewhat mentally disordered lately, told me the results of the tests and my brother in law has the beginning of Altzheimer.

So, you see, that's why we need a hug or two.

I'll keep you posted about Mom.

~Titia~

Hundreds of hugs for all! I am so sorry about Mommy Muys situation, and am sending healing thoughts.
When it comes to Alzeimers, the more stimulated a person can keep their mind each day, the better. Wishing him well, and the family great strength.

Visited Muys today. She's a bit tired, but seemed ok. Nurse told me they do think it's an infection, but as her blood wasn't as good as it should have been, chances are she had a little stroke, but that's not certain yet, they are going to do some more tests. So she will be in the hospital for a couple of more days.

As for my sister: well, her life is going to change a lot from now on. How long she will be able to keep him home, depends on how fast his delusions will take over his mind and looking at the last few months, it could well be really fast. He can't be left alone anymore, so it will be getting very difficult for her. They have a beautiful house in the midst of the woods and a lot of animals (chickens, geese, ducks, dogs) and all the taking care of comes down on her alone now.

And me? Well, visiting mom every day, I get a bit too much exercise for my hip that needs to be operated on yet, because they've put her in the farthest corner of this huge hospital and I have to walk that distance twice a day and drive an hour to and fro in sometimes heavy traffic.

So, I'm grateful for all the hugs you've send our way. Keeps me going.
Good thing the lambing season is late this year, lambs will not show for another month.

Love you all.

Wishing you all the energy you need, dear Titia, to visit your dear Mommy Muys in Bruges and to keep her in a good mood, while she is recovering.

I do hope your brother in law will be able to remain at home for long, maybe with a little extra help from the community (there are Associations for Altzheimer affected people I think which provide assistance if required). It is hard on all involved, no doubt. May the progress of the illness be slow and may scientific research in this field bring results!

Love and hugs.

Titia, wishing Mommy Muys the best and a speedy recovery.
Your sister has her hands full, and it sounds like you need extra help. Are there any local people who can help with chores???
Wishing you great strength. Don't forget to take time to breathe deeply and relax.

Dear Titia,
I've lit a Prayer Candle for your mom's speedy recovery and, there's a hug for you right over your head - just reach up and grab onto it and hold tight.

Mommy Muys is coming home tomorrow.
They found out that the microbe that caused the bladder infection, was immune for the medication she got and so it could go on and on, even infecting her blood resulting in the high fevers.
They've put her on a different medication and she's practically her old self again.
I'm going to print all your hugs and give them to her tomorrow. Thanks for the support.

No matter how difficult the road, God IS still in control.  My prayer is for strength for you and your sister to carry on through these rough troublesome times.  May your Mom find relief from her discomforts, too.

God bless,

Whoo Hooo!  She is back to her home, and that will even get her better.  Tell her to be careful though, and not do too much, as she could get a cold, or flu.

Spoke to the doctor today and she said that my mom has been really, really sick last week and that she has been very lucky, because many old people who are weak, won't survive an attack like that, especially not when the 'bug' is already in the blood.
I guess it wasn't her time yet, but it did scare me though.
